A Getaway in the Region Surrounding Espace Hors Champs

Published on Jul 25, 2024

Country-style dining is definitely very trendy these days. After all, what could be finer than eating a delicious meal directly at a farm? To make your experience even more exceptional, why not add some activities and, perhaps, an overnight stay in a nearby accommodation? Here are our suggestions!

Espace Hors Champs

Espace Hors Champs, located in Austin, is a very original project launched by Amélie Primeau-Bureau and Vincent Mousseau. This little 6-acre vegetable producing garden of Eden is where they grow organic produce, hold a market, offer yoga workshops and host a country dining table. And the word is out, because the food is so good here! With a majestic view of Mount Orford, their “from the garden to the plate” experience has been taken up a notch!

Some outing ideas :

As for activities, there’s no shortage of things to do in the area! First of all, outdoor enthusiasts will be delighted to visit the Parc National du Mont-Orford. The Lake Stukely sector, with its stunning panoramas, wooded shores and tranquil bays, will charm sports enthusiasts and contemplative types alike.

Then, high up on the shores of Lake Memphrémagog, the perfume house La Grange du Parfumeur is an absolute must! Perfumer and olfactory artist Alexandra Bachand is always delighted to welcome visitors and share her unique expertise with them.

Not far from here, still on the Chemin des Pères, you’ll find Savon des Cantons, where artisanal soaps, body and face products and household items have been made for over twenty years in the laboratory of this delightful soap factory.

Are you more partial to the scent of lavender? Then head to Bleu Lavande, also in Magog, where lavender fields as far as the eye can see, a boutique, an interpretation centre and an immersive experience await!

History and heritage buffs will want to head over to Maison Merry, a magnificent civic memorial commemorating the history of Magog and the surrounding area, from the First Nations to the present day, via the American settlers.

Finally, if all this has made you thirsty, a stop at the friendly microbrewery La Memphré or the very charming Canton Brasse in Orford is a must.

Obviously, you won’t have enough time in the day to see and try everything, but luckily there are a number of accommodation options nearby!

Where to sleep?

In Orford, you could choose Chalets Hygge, for their chic Scandinavian style and warm, welcoming ambiance. Or would you prefer a hotel? Then you’ll can select one of the 82 rooms at Espace 4 Saisons, located at the foot of Mont Orford and ranked number 1 on TripAdvisor for Magog-Orford, or the Estrimont Hotel, a highly renowned destination.

In Magog, you’ll find no shortage of B&Bs! In fact, there are almost a dozen to be found in the city centre alone. If you love Victorian-style homes, comfort, delicious breakfasts and a friendly ambiance, you’ll be delighted.

Hotels include the Versō, with its unobstructed view overlooking Lake Memphremagog and its 54 mid-century modern rooms, the Quartier des marinas, a brand-new establishment in downtown Magog with 30 high-end, modern condominium-style units, and the Auberge du Grand Lac, for the quality of its service.

Enjoy your little getaway!
