Round-top trail

Parc d'environnement naturel de Sutton

The backbone of our network of trails, this is the most popular section. This trail takes you to the highest peak, the Round Top, at 968 metres, offering panoramic views of the St. Lawrence plain, the Monteregian Hills, and Lake Champlain. The natural habitat of Bicknell’s Thrush, a rare and threatened species, Round Top is part of the Green Mountains Nature Reserve. For this reason, the trail is strictly prohibited to dogs, even those on a leash, as of 775-metre altitude. The trail to the summit meanders through a sugar maple-yellow birch stand that gradually transforms to mixed forest, with increasing numbers of red spruce during the ascent.
