Exploring the Townships with Your Friends and Their Dogs

Published on Mar 4, 2025

The Eastern Townships have plenty of places where you can play and/or stay with your dog, and this, no matter the season! It’s also a region where both you and your friends can enjoy a panoply of activities. So, pack your bags, get your dog ready and call the girls, because we’re taking you on a 100% dog-friendly winter getaway!!

The Essential Chalet for Your Stay

Before we present the activities you’ll need to add to your to-do list, we want to suggest the ideal venue where you and your girlfriends can rent a cottage. In fact, it’s known to be one of the most dog-friendly accommodations in the area: Chalets Hygge.

Located in the town of Orford, the Chalets Hygge were designed by nature aficionados and animal lovers, Kerri et Philippe. They lovingly renovated several small cottages by giving them a Scandinavian decor. Today, they’re very proud to welcome our four-legged companions throughout the year.

A tip: If you’d like to have enough space for you, your friends as well as your dogs, we suggest you rent the Denmark Chalet, which can welcome up to eight guests.

A Very Unique, Not-to-Be-Missed Activity

During your stay, you must absolutely head out and explore the region with your dogs and try some very unique activities. One of these we strongly recommend, and surely, the most unusual, is to try a snow scooter at the Parc Régional de la Gorge de Coaticook. Yes! Really! It’s called a snow scooter!

Here’s how it works. Everybody has their own sled-like scooter and ties their dog to the front. Then, all you’ll need to do is let your dog guide you; of course, you’ll need to push your sled along a bit. And, if one of your friends doesn’t have a dog, she can also use it like a kick-sled; she’ll simply get an even better workout. We guarantee a fun time filled with plenty of laughter.

Head Out Without a Care in the World

Being a dog owner, you’re quite aware that there are very few trails where you can hike without having your pooch on a leash. Near Sutton, at the Au Diable Vert mountain resort, both you and your dog can freely explore all the trails! This vast domain offers incredible views overlooking the surrounding mountains. You’ll discover a true paradise for dog-owning nature enthusiasts. Bonus: you can even stay overnight with your four-legged best friend!

An Address to Discover

After having enjoyed all these activities, there’s one more place where you can stop awhile with your gal pals for an unforgettable evening, the microbrewery Canton Brasse.

This microbrewery is 100% dog-friendly. Yes, yes! You can sit comfortably indoors with your dog at your feet, savouring a great tasting beer while perhaps enjoying a board game among friends.

This venue is a true gem in the region. Everybody loves coming here, and we guarantee you’ll find a warm and friendly ambiance! Now that you’ve noted several addresses and activities for a fun time with your dog, and which you shouldn’t miss in the Townships, all you have to do is come! And, of course, don’t forget to share your adventure!
