Rain or shine, in the Eastern Townships you’ll discover a museum that the entire family will be happy to visit: the Musée de l’ingéniosité J. Armand Bombardier in Valcourt. Does the name sound familiar? Of course, since it was built to honour this famous Québec inventor, to whom we owe, among others, the Ski-Doo® snowmobile and our Can-Am® all-terrain vehicles!
From the temporary exhibition to the Fab Lab, you’ll soon find out that learning here is all about having fun. You’ll be able to manipulate, experiment and enjoy the many challenges and multimedia activities. In fact, J. Armand Bombardier’s passion for engineering could be contagious!
This summer, the museum is showcasing the work of former Bombardier and BRP employees and the evolution of the assembly line through the temporary exhibition: Along the Line — Workers’ Memories. The presentation will take you back in time to when J. Armand Bombardier first started his company, all the way to the present-day operations.
From the first garage to the modern, interconnected factories, observe how the Bombardier and BRP assembly lines have progressively changed and evolved with quite an original approach! Indeed, you’ll be immersed in the true fascinating stories of former employees and learn more about the work methods that shaped the history of industrial labour as well as how these contributed to BRP’s economic development.
A perfect complement to the temporary exhibition Along the Line - Workers’ Memories, step inside the BRP plant to discover the actual manufacturing and assembly process for Ski-Doo® snowmobiles, while learning about the different trades involved.
New this year! You’ll be impressed by the new reception space, which will take you behind the scenes of this multinational company. Perhaps the experience will awaken a new passion, or inspire a future career in engineering and technology for your children... Who knows?
This activity is offered to visitors 14 years of age and older, from Mondays to Thursdays, June 26 until July 13 and from August 7 to August 17.

As well as the museum’s not-to-be-missed tinkering challenges, this summer you’ll have the chance to try out the new Fab Lab package! Come and experience a real manufacturing workshop, where you and your family can learn how to safely use a laser cutter under the supervision of a qualified and enthusiastic facilitator. Together, you can create a personalized wooden bookmark to take home as an enduring memento of your visit. A creative and original family outing and an absolute must this summer at the museum! Available from July 15 to August 2, 2024.
