Sherbrooke, with its irregular vales and plateau landscape, is Quebec’s sixth city of importance and the capital of the Eastern Townships. Such architectural treasures as the Domaine Howard and the well-known campus of Bishop’s University represent the anglophone community’s historical contribution to the development of the city.

Sherbrooke also enjoys unparalleled gastronomical renown equalled only by the talent of its chefs. The Marché de la Gare and the Halte des Pèlerins vineyard, member of the Route des vins de l’Estrie, offer an abundance of regional products on their shelves. Added to the permanent collection of the Musée de la nature et des sciences and the Musée des beaux-arts, visitors can also discover a circuit which includes 17 outdoor murals, trompe-l’œil style, unique in Quebec. In fact, people can tour the series accompanied by the special Muralis application, inspired by augmented reality technology, making the frescoes and the stories they tell come to life.
Sherbrooke, A Lively City
Music occupies a place of choice in Sherbrooke’s cultural calendar with such well-known performance halls as the Centre culturel of the Université de Sherbrooke and the Théâtre Granada. Added to this, the Concerts de la Cité, Sherblues & Folk and several other festivals liven up the downtown area which stays open until the early morning hours thanks to the many bars, microbreweries and terraces you’ll find here.
An Urban Nature
Sherbrooke can be proud of its quality urban nature and the many accessible outdoor activities people can enjoy in its urban heart. Three rivers for canoeing or kayaking, 14 walking trails, 125 km of cycling routes in the summer, four winter cycling routes, and a mountain in the centre of the city, all testify to its sports-minded nature. Finally, the city’s central gathering place the lac des Nations, all the way to the Promenade de la gorge de la Magog, offers an amazingly enchanting décor.
