The artist Robert Péloquin presents sculptures composed of metal, glass and stone, which reflects his environment, his thoughts and his projections.
Built from resurrected and painted industrial forms, this exhibition of sculptures offers a visual experience similar to a surrealist dream with the combination of abstract and figurative forms revealing more than meets the eye… or not.
After completing his studies in art and design in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Robert Péloquin emigrated to Montreal, where he worked as an illustrator for the neurology research department at the University of Montreal. He studied glass fusion at the Sheridan Collage in Toronto, cast glass at Espace Verre in Montreal, and glass painting in New York with the late Albinis Elskus, a figurative glass painter.
With heated and fused glass catching his eye, he perfected his skills and became the co-founder of Surface Design, specializing in the design and manufacture of contemporary furniture and accessories using glass, granite and metal. His work has been sold throughout Canada and the United States.
Now based in the Eastern Townships, Robert uses all of his acquired skills to create sculptures reflecting his environment and his inspirations.
