Julie Vanasse - Cantons Intemporels

Nov 17, 2024 ~ Jan 19, 2025

From November 17, 2024 to January 19, 2025.

With around twenty paintings, the artist invites the public to discover the hidden treasures of a magnificent region that has made it vibrate for more than forty years, the Eastern Townships.

Julie Vanasse's artistic approach is a perpetual journey of self-discovery through the past and our relationship with nature in the present. She is particularly interested in the areas where reality and imagination meet, human complexity and animal simplicity, past and present.

Having been inspired by the landscape and history of the Eastern Townships for decades, she wanted to dedicate an exhibition to it. This project focuses on the founding peoples of the region, their historical imprints and how the present is articulated through this heritage. To do this, she uses mixed media because it allows her to incorporate different elements that correspond well to the multiple influences of these people. She wants to particularly highlight the contributions of the Abenaki, the British, the Irish, the Scottish and the French Canadians.

Through this exhibition, she hopes to raise awareness among visitors about the sustainability of our presence, our imprint on the landscape and the need to remember our common roots.

Opening on November 17, at 2 p.m.
