Brasseurs des Cantons microbreweries to discover!

Things are always brewing in the Eastern Townships! Case in point? Our region is home to some 29 Brasseurs des Cantons microbreweries. From iconic brewpubs to under-the-radar gems (full disclosure: we’re not great at keeping secrets!), here are a few destinations to add to your craft beer bucket list.


Confrérie Artisans Brasseurs , Windsor

Specializing in fruit beers, this Windsor artisanal brewery creates year-round a great variety of crea-tive recipes. The fruit-forward beers are brewed following regional and seasonal availability, while more traditional beer recipes also come out depending on the brewer’s inspiration.Through passion, innovation and sharing, this bold company brews new flavors for beer lovers and creates craft beers that are both original and acces-sible. The tap room and the beer garden will certainly charm you... don’t forget to bring your lunch!

Canton Brasse, Orford

Versatile, accessible, funky! These are qualities that perfectly define this friendly microbrewery in Orford. Thirst quenching beers, IPAs, sour beers ... whatever your choice, you’ll be sure to get your hands on a high-quality craft product. The microbrewery places great importance on working with local producers and their clientele, as well as collaborating with other brewers. To taste exceptional beers, have a bite and get-together with friends, Canton Brasse is the place to be.

Favourite: Chairlift, our famous explosive DDH NEIPA with a lot of personnality!


La Knowlton Co., Knowlton (Lac-Brome)

What makes this microbrewery stand out? Beers that are easy to drink... and surprising to taste. Here you’ll find beers that you rarely find anywhere else, like the Cream ale, the Wheat ale and the Triple Belge. This microbrewery is a must stop when passing through the village of Knowlton, as much for its beers than for its restaurant with a decor that perfectly combines nature and modernity. Psst! Don’t forget to taste their delicious pizzas!

Favourite: Cream Ale Traditonelle, a light and refreshing Blonde Ale with a light corn taste and a good balance between malt and hops


Robin Bière Naturelle, Waterloo

Developing distinctive flavours is a passion for Hugo and Mathieu, the brothers behind Robin Bière Naturelle—and the proof is in the bottle! Specializing in barrel-aged craft beers, they create unique recipes inspired by local raw materials. The blends are further enhanced by the addition of wild yeast, which builds plenty of character into the flavour profile. Curious? Visit the brewers in their Waterloo tasting room.

Favourites: Léa N°11, a barrique wheat, and Saison du Coteau Bonheur, a beer made with grape marc.


Le Refuge des Brasseurs, Sherbrooke

Le Refuge is the brainchild of three Université de Sherbrooke alumni wanting to give students (as well as the general public) a cozy spot to grab a bite and sip a beer amongst friends. Done and done! Claim to fame? This microbrewery boasts one of the largest selections of beers brewed on-site. Cheers!

Favourite: Bunker, an American-style IPA with Mosaic Hops, Arbuste, a raspberry white and Shernobyl, a NEIPA with robust hoppy flavour.


À L'Abordage , Sutton

Located in the beautiful village of Sutton, the two À l’Abordage establishments make it their duty to satisfy your gustatory curiosity. The tasting room gives you the perfect opportunity to discover a variety of tasty American-inspired beers, including La Pagaille, an IPA with orange sorbet jam notes, while the pub-style restaurant, located a stone’s throw away, will delight the most demanding gourmand’s taste buds.

Favourite: Pagaille, an American IPA-style beer with notes of citrus jam and orange sorbet.


Le Brouemont, Bromont

With 20 types of artisanal brews – from blonde to American Pale Ale – le Brouemont offers delicious, aromatic beers made to the highest standards, from the brewing process through to bottling. Whether you’re returning from a day on the slopes or visiting with your family or friends, you’ll love the traditional pub fare at this large brewery.

Nanobrasserie Beat & Betterave, Frelighsburg

Relaxing, welcoming and unpretentious, that’s how we would describe Beat & Betterave, village coffeehouse and now brewery. Brewing their own beers was a natural step for the owners of this café that boasts a locally sourced menu often fresh from their garden. Open since 2015, Beat & Betterave also has a small show venue that often hosts big names in the music industry. Why not enjoy a falafel with a fresh beer while listening to a music show?

Favourite: The Pilsner, the brewer’s favourite beer!


Les Brasseurs de West Shefford, Bromont

Make people happy. That’s the main objective of the West Shefford crew and judging by the popularity of their excellent beers, it’s safe to consider this mission accomplished. Tucked inside Edgar Hyperlodge, where you can enjoy meals prepared with the finest ingredients (including West Shefford beers), this “micro-resto-pub” will quickly become a must visit in the region.

Favourite: Trois Lettres, a traditional IPA with citrus notes.


Le Boq, Sherbrooke

Located in the very heart of downtown Sherbrooke, Le Boquébière stands out for the quality of its beers, brewed on site, in addition to a wide offering from guest microbreweries. Always on the lookout for new aromatic subtleties, it also offers many dishes, made with local ingredients, to accompany your brew tasting. In addition, events and themed evenings are hosted regularly to offer you an even more stimulating experience.

Favourite: The Pura Vida series, a fruity IPA with hops that change with each brew.


La Mare au Diable, Sherbrooke

La Mare au Diable, in the heart of downtown Sherbrooke, is definitely worth a visit. Sample 100% artisanal, unpasteurized and unfiltered beers, brewed on site, in a warm, relaxed setting. Situated at the top of rue King, this microbrewery has a terrace with a fantastic view!
