Austin

Austin, named for Nicholas Austin, a Quaker who immigrated here in 1793, is located on the western shores of Lake Memphremagog. The village is well worth a visit to admire the panoramic views of the lake and nearby mountains. At the intersection of Nicholas Austin and Millington roads, a charming little church, next to Muriel Ball-Duckworth Park, is the departure point for a 4.7-km heritage tour. On the opposite side, Reginald Aubrey Fessenden (the father of radio broadcasting) Park is the departure point for a planetary trail along a 2-km pedestrian walkway leading to Saint-Benoît-du-Lac. The general store offers a wide assortment of local products.
