Lingwick (Township)

Between Sherbrooke and Lac-Mégantic, the Township of Lingwick, created in 1855, includes the hamlets of Gould and Sainte-Marguerite. The Ruée vers Gould immerses visitors in an ambiance reflecting the Scottish passion of the pioneers of this village, also referred to as the Highlands of Quebec. The heritage-rich buildings are an added feature: Chalmers United Church, the old Town Hall, three ancestral cemeteries, and the McVetty-McKerry covered bridge. This covered bridge, the second longest in Quebec, has a picnic-perfect area near the Saumon River (also known as the Salmon River). In the summer, the Marché de la petite école market and its little pub offer a Friday evening mélange of various local products and entertainment.
