Chartierville

To reach the border community of Chartierville, take scenic Route 257 South. Prior to its founding in 1870 by French-Canadian settlers from Saint-Hyacinthe, gold prospectors were already active on the Ditton River. The Centre d’Interprétation de la Mine d’Or tells the fascinating saga of the gold rush in this corner of the country. After travelling another five kilometres towards the border, visitors will arrive at an interpretation kiosk to learn about and experience the magnetic hill phenomenon. A rest area serves as a starting point for the Sentiers Frontaliers (135 km) trail network.
