Courcelles

Gateway to the Eastern Townships coming from the Beauce, Courcelles is a quiet village two kilometres south of Route 108. Making a stop here is a must, as the entire village core has been designed to accommodate visitors. This is one of the main tourist attractions of the “Autour du Morne” alternative tourist and heritage route. In 1862, the double waterfall of the Bluets River made it an ideal spot to build a log dam to power a gristmill. Politicking in 1892 favoured the passage of the Québec Central railway. In 1903, the train station became Courcelles. Nowadays, its story is told through orientation tables. Relax and enjoy a good meal at the Parc de l’ancienne gare (former train station park), or the gristmill that has been converted into an interpretation centre, with its own bistro.
